스포츠 테이핑 요법은 약물처리가 전혀 되지 않은 접착테이프를 인체의 근육에 부착시킴으로써 근육의 항상성 원리를 이용하여 근력저하, 근육의 경련, 긴장 등을 정상화하고 혈액, 조직액, 임파액의 순환을 개선시켜 주변과 조화를 이루지 못한 근육이 균형을 이루면서 증상이 개선되고 통증이 조절되는 자연 요법입니다.
현재 테이핑 요법은 전문적인 운동선수들에게는 강한 운동능력을 발휘하게 하고 스포츠 상해를 예방하는 차원으로 활용되고 있으며, 일반인들에게는 특별히 우려할만한 부작용이 없어 손쉽게 적용할 수 있다는 장점 때문에 급성 또는 만성 근 관절 계통의 통증 치료법으로 활용되고 있습니다. 그러나 잘못된 방법으로 실행하면 오히려 역효과를 일으킬 수 있는 위험성도 포함하고 있어 해부학 및 스포츠 의학 지식을 갖춘 전문가가 실행해야 하지만 모든 스포츠 선수와 애호가를 지원할 만큼의 전문 인력이 충분하지 않은 것이 현실입니다.
이 책에서 소개하는 테이핑은 해부학과 스포츠 의학을 바탕으로 스포츠 선수나 트레이너가 대퇴나 시합 중에 부상을 예방하거나 재활치료를 하기 위해 사용하는 가장 일반적인 방식에 따라 소개하였습니다.
또한 일반인도 일상생활에서 직접 활용할 수 있는 부위별 테이핑부터 경기나 부상에 따라 쓸 수 있는 여러 가지 테이핑 방법까지 자세하게 설명하였습니다.
따라서 처음에는 테이핑 방법이 다소 어려울 수 있으나 반복하다 보면 숙달되어 쉽게 활용할 수 있으며, 같은 부위라도 감는 방법이나 테이프의 종류에 따라 다양한 테이핑 효과를 경험할 수 있습니다. 특히 상해의 예방차원에서 무엇보다 중요한 평상시 바른 자세와 부상방지를 위한 간단한 스트레칭 및 운동 방법을 함께 수록하였으니 참고하시길 바랍니다.
